Spandex — Fabric Care Guide
Spandex (also known as Lycra or Elastane) is a synthetic fiber with exceptional elasticity — it can stretch 5-8 times its length and return to shape. It is usually blended with other fabrics for stretch. Found in sportswear, swimwear, underwear, and leggings.
Care Instructions
Machine wash on gentle cycle at 30°C. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Air dry in shade. Do not iron or iron at very low heat.
Tips
- Avoid high heat — it destroys elasticity
- Always wash in cold water
- Avoid fabric softener — it breaks down fibers
- Dry in shade, not direct sunlight
